Behind the Spec: Good Space Studio

Welcome to the Behind the Spec Blog Series, where designers share how they’re using Caesarstone surfaces to bring their projects to life.
Discover the inspiration behind each selection, the practical considerations that shaped the design, and the surfaces they chose to achieve their vision.

Honoring the Past with a Modern Point of View

Set in Madison, Georgia’s historic district, the home called for a thoughtful balance between preservation and reinvention.

Good Space Studio approached the project with respect for the home’s traditional roots while introducing the clean lines, modern forms, and playful details. Throughout the residence, original materials and classic patterns were paired with more contemporary colors and shapes, creating spaces that feel connected to the home’s history without being bound by it.

That balance was especially important in the kitchen, where the homeowners wanted to preserve the original 1960s wood cabinetry.

Statuario Nuvo Bridges Old and New

Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo was selected for its ability to connect the kitchen’s original elements with the newer design details.

Its combination of warm and cool tones complements the existing wood cabinetry while helping introduce a fresher, more contemporary feel. The restrained veining adds subtle movement and visual interest, while still nodding to the more traditional character of the home.

Rather than creating a sharp contrast between old and new, Statuario Nuvo acts as a bridge between the two. Its clean appearance supports the kitchen’s modern updates while allowing the original cabinetry to remain an important part of the room’s story.

Thoughtful Details Make the Transition

The countertop design was also carefully considered to respond to the existing architecture.

An Ogee edge was used where the surface meets the original window trim, creating a graceful transition that feels appropriate to the home’s traditional detailing.

At the sink, which needed to remain in the corner, a curved side splash provided an elegant solution for transitioning from a taller backsplash to a shorter one. The detail is both functional and expressive, turning a practical challenge into a distinctive design moment.

Together, these choices give the kitchen a sense of continuity and intention. Each detail respects what was already there while introducing a cleaner, more current point of view.
