Behind the Spec: JLW Interiors

Welcome to the Behind the Spec Blog Series, where designers share how they’re using Caesarstone surfaces to bring their projects to life.
Discover the inspiration behind each selection, the practical considerations that shaped the design, and the surfaces they chose to achieve their vision.

Three New York Homes, Three Distinct Design Stories

Across three New York residences, JLW Interiors used Caesarstone surfaces to support very different design visions, from a refined Upper East Side kitchen to a bold Brooklyn home and a highly functional laundry room designed for family life.

Led by founder Jennifer Weisberg Cohen, JLW Interiors approaches each project as an opportunity to create a home that feels layered, personal, and connected to the way its clients live. Materials are selected not only for their appearance, but for the role they play within the broader composition of color, texture, art, and everyday function.

For these three projects, Caesarstone London Grey, Pebble, and Vivid White each provided a distinct foundation while allowing the surrounding design elements to take center stage.

London Grey in an Upper East Side Kitchen

For an Upper East Side residence, Jennifer designed the home around a sophisticated neutral palette, using texture and subtle variation to create depth without distracting from the client’s art collection.

Caesarstone 5000 London Grey was selected for the kitchen countertops. Its soft grey background and delicate veining complement the home’s restrained palette while adding natural movement and visual interest.

The surface supports the room’s quiet sophistication without becoming overly prominent. Its understated character allows the artwork, furnishings, and layered finishes throughout the residence to remain the focus.

In a space defined by nuance, London Grey provides a refined foundation that feels elegant, versatile, and considered.

Pebble in a Bold Brooklyn Kitchen

The Brooklyn residence called for a very different design approach.

The client wanted to completely reimagine her home, with a high-gloss smoky blue kitchen serving as the anchor. Her vision was distinctly Afro-centric yet modern, incorporating vibrant color, culturally influenced art, and expressive pattern throughout.

Caesarstone 4030 Pebble was used for the kitchen countertops, providing a balanced neutral element within the richly layered space. Its warm grey tone grounds the high-gloss cabinetry while allowing the bold colors, artwork, and patterns to remain visually strong.

Rather than competing with the kitchen’s expressive design, Pebble helps create balance. Its clean, understated appearance supports the contemporary lines of the space and brings cohesion to the surrounding materials.

The result is a kitchen that feels confident and personal, combining bold visual expression with a calm and functional foundation.

Vivid White in a Colorful Upper East Side Laundry Room

For a second Upper East Side residence, the client wanted to incorporate colorful millwork in a functional way that would support the needs of her family of three.

Caesarstone 1111 Vivid White was selected for the laundry room, creating a crisp counterpoint to the colorful cabinetry and custom millwork.

Its clean, bright appearance helps the space feel open and organized while allowing the surrounding color to make the strongest statement. The surface brings clarity to the room’s palette and provides a versatile foundation for an area designed around daily routines.

By pairing Vivid White with expressive millwork, JLW Interiors transformed a practical space into one that feels polished, cheerful, and intentionally designed.

Surfaces That Support the Story

Although each residence has its own distinct identity, the Caesarstone selections share a common purpose: supporting the overall design without overwhelming it.

London Grey adds subtle movement to a refined neutral kitchen. Pebble grounds a bold and culturally expressive Brooklyn residence. Vivid White creates contrast and clarity within a colorful, family-focused laundry room.

In each case, the surface selection responds to the architecture, palette, and lifestyle of the client. The materials become part of a larger story—one shaped by art, color, memory, and the rhythms of everyday life.

About JLW Interiors

JLW Interiors, LLC is a New York–based design studio specializing in high-end residential interiors defined by a layered, livable sense of luxury.

Founded by Jennifer Weisberg Cohen, the firm is guided by the belief that design is a form of living art that evolves with the people who inhabit it. Jennifer understands that the objects within a home carry meaning in a way few other things do. Furnishings, art, and materials become intertwined with memory; shaping how a space is both experienced and remembered over time.

Her work is grounded in the idea that interiors should not only be beautiful, but should reflect how her clients truly want to live. Each project is thoughtfully tailored to support individual lifestyles, balancing a sophisticated vocabulary of materials and finishes with an intuitive understanding of how design influences the rhythms of everyday life.

With nearly two decades of experience across Chicago and New York, Jennifer brings a thoughtful balance of creativity and rigor to each project, ensuring that every decision is both inspired and deeply considered. Whether a full renovation or a more focused furnishing project, the process is carefully guided to feel clear and manageable.

In a city like Manhattan, where the design and construction process can be inherently complex, JLW Interiors acts as both guide and advocate. The firm manages procurement, project management, and the many moving parts behind the scenes, allowing clients to remain focused on the experience rather than the stress.

The result is a home that feels deeply personal; layered with meaning, and designed to evolve over time.
